5 WAYS TO STAY IN SHAPE DURING THE SUMMER

It’s more difficult in summer to stick to your daily routines, whether it be diet or exercise.  Get togethers with friends start to fill up your diary and become an almost daily occurrence: A quick bite for lunch on the beach, evening meals which continue into the small hours… and we never seem to be able to find the time to carry out our daily exercises.

We all want the perfect body to show off our tan, and that is why we have put together a list of 5 different ways to keep in shape, even in summer.

  1. For those who love exercising outdoors. We suggest making the most of the early mornings, before the sun comes out, or late evenings, just before sunset, to go running. The first few hours of the morning and the last of the evening are perfect for getting our legs moving. Also, if you have a promenade nearby, put it to good use and go walking or running alongside the sea. Thanks to the gentle sea breeze, you will enjoy it much more, as well as having the added benefit of the most spectacular views, Your body and mind will thank you for it.
  2. If you are in the water, keep moving! Water offers essential resistance, due to its density, against our body’s movements and is extremely useful for those people looking to lose weight and tone up their muscles without a risk of injury. Give your legs a workout by moving them in scissor-like movements backwards and forwards as well as from side to side, or peddle, as if on a bicycle, moving your legs in circular movements. All these types of exercises will help you tone and strengthen your muscles.
  3. You can make the most out of your day at the beach by taking part in some of the most popular summer sports, such as paddle surf, kayak. In addition to being active, energetic sports which will help improve your balance and resilience, they are also perfect activities for having lots of fun with family or friends.
  4. If you fancy a more relaxed form of exercise with an aim to balancing both body and mind, summer is the perfect time of year to do yoga. The uneven and soft surface of the sand actually makes the body’s muscles work harder and you also need greater levels of concentration to achieve the required stability and balance for the different yoga positions.
  5. Hiking/Trekking. Long walks through spectacular, natural surroundings are a great option in summer.

Not only do you get to discover unrivalled landscapes, you also exercise your heart and fill your lungs with pure, fresh air. Don’t forget to take some water with you as it is vital to stay well hydrated at all times. If you are somewhere hot and sunny, it’s also important to protect yourself from the suns rays by using SPF sun cream as well as wearing a hat and proper sunglasses to protect your eyes.

Keep in mind too to always do some stretching before each workout. We can’t expect our body to perform perfectly if we don’t warm up first and there is no reason to risk getting a muscle injury.

The best thing about all the types of workouts we have mentioned, none of them need any equipment, so there is no excuse at all why you can’t start right now to look after yourself so you can keep on enjoying all the good things in life
